Overview

Faro Blanco, Spanish for “white lighthouse,” is a concrete tower on the resort marina in Marathon. Its clean white form is readily visible from the Overseas Highway and surrounding water.

History

A marina built the tower around 1950 as both a recognizable landmark and a guide for approaching boats. Unlike most faux lighthouses, it has carried a rotating beacon as a registered private aid to navigation.

Visiting & Access

The tower can be seen from the resort and marina areas but is not normally open for climbing. Visitors should follow all resort and marina access policies.

Current Status

Faro Blanco remains a resort landmark and private aid to navigation. The tower itself is not a public lighthouse museum.
