The Mount Dora Lighthouse stands on Lake Dora at a park often called Lighthouse Park. Its striped tower and small hexagonal lantern form one of the city’s most recognizable symbols.
Local civic groups raised about $3,000 to build the lighthouse in 1988 as a marker for the Port of Mount Dora. Although it has no internal stairway and is smaller than a coastal lighthouse, its flashing light was registered as a private aid to navigation.
The lighthouse exterior is freely visible from Grantham Point Park, which includes benches, picnic tables, parking, and fishing access. The tower has no public interior.
The City of Mount Dora maintains the landmark in a public park. Its beacon is a registered private aid to navigation on Lake Dora.
